Celebrating the many ways that performance supports the perpetuation of ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, KEAKA highlights these types of works:
-
ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi Piha (staged performances fully in Hawaiian language)
-
Hoʻoulu ʻŌlelo (staged performances at least half in Hawaiian language)
-
Hoʻoulu Kuanaʻike (staged performances that are less than half in Hawaiian language, but reflect Hawaiian thought, history, and culture)
-
Mele Uhau (slam poetry in Hawaiian language)
-
Hoʻonui ʻIke (workshops, hōʻike, etc.)
-
Kiʻi ʻoniʻoni (film in Hawaiian language)
If your school or organization has a Hawaiian language performance that they would like to share through KEAKA, contact us! We would love to include you!
